Had the opportunity to review a NSW Council using a grid roller for maintenance grading. The purpose of using the roller was to break down the grass matter that was in the material retrieved off then shoulders, rather then wasting both the grass and gravel present. Im currently reviewing the possibilities of this techinique in maintaining the formation height of a road over more traditional techniques. It has some merits.

We completed an onsite review and video recording of a grading crew completing Councils standard maintenance technique. The propose was to review how then successfully they completed the key criteria for a successful grade, using our criteria. You can obtain a copy using this link .

We ran our day 1 –  Best Practice Operational Techniques for Unsealed Roads at Casino on the 25th of August.  We had 37 attend.  Mostly operators, supervisors and some managers.  Good discussion were had about techniques and possible improvements.

Commenced in May 2011 the implementation of our service delivery implementation processes for the management of unsealed road networks.

Jan 2011 started on the implementation of our complete unsealed road network management process.  Started with the videotaping of operational crews in grading practices, for first round of training about obtain best practice operational techniques.  

 “How to manage unsealed road networks on limited budgets to maximise performance and services” – 2 day training course

Completed an onsite review of the Santos South Australia site, based at Moomba.  The following items were completed;

1. Discussions with management about the environment and conditions that existing in the management of the network to ensure that gas and oil production if effectively outputted from the plant. 

2. Road register and classification review.

3. Past Expenditure Review.

4. Road Inspections and determination of existing intervention levels.

5. Development of service delivery budget model tool for the Moomba operations.

Have completed a review onsite with councilors and using council's mapping application, the issue of Roads off Casement.  A review the legal side was completed to assist council determine its level of service that it would provide to roads within the network.  A Community consultation and a road policy will be the final result of this project.

November 2009 we completed our unique 2 day unsealed roads training course for the surrounding councils of Palerang, Yass Valley, Snowy River, ACT Gov and Dept of Ter.

September 2010.  Completed a half day training course for 24 persons on best practical operational techniques.  For grader, water truck and roller operators.
