Central Highlands Regional Council maintains a vast network of over 3,000 km of unsealed roads, grading up to 70% of the network and delivering over 100 km of gravel resheeting annually.
🔑 What drives their success?
A proven, proactive community engagement model that uses targeted group emails to keep residents informed and reduce disruptions.
To further enhance this approach, we recently completed a 9-day intensive workshop focused on operational and strategic improvements. Highlights included:
✅ Agreed grading road passes by activity, set production rates, and practical QA indicators to ensure consistency.
✅Smarter gravel preservation using shoulder retrieval techniques—potentially recovering over 100,000 tonnes of gravel annually.
✅ Enhanced budgeting tools to ensure consistent services across the region.
This was a team-driven effort, with contributions from across the board. Thanks to all involved—especially Tyronne for leading the charge!
